Lockers
I conceptualized Lockers as a memorial to those who have lost their lives in school shootings. The project began in the spring of 2018 amidst student-led demonstrations, like March For Our Lives. I served as project manager for the construction of the memorial, leading a team of ten students.
Twelve feet wide by nine feet tall, this interactive memorial recalls 226 lives that were unjustly taken in school shootings. Arranged in the shape of a handgun, each person is represented by a locker, which can be opened, revealing the story of a life no longer with us.
Lockers is currently displayed in the lobby shared by NuVu Studio and a Cambridge, MA theater company. My hope is that the installation will inspire people to push for stricter gun control laws.
